Day 5 could be a lot shorter and flatter. but…

I wanted to visit the stone circle at Swinside, and climb Black Combe.

So it isn’t.

Start from Broughton in Furness village centre head in to the valley of the delightfully named River Lickle, and play frogger on the A595 at Duddon Bridge. Then climb up and round via Thwaite Yeat to the Stone Circle at Swinside, before dropping back to the A595 at Hallthwaites. Then re-ascend the 600 lofty and majestic metres of Black Combe with a swift 2 mile descent directly to Silecroft from the summit.

Transport. Train out to Foxfield, Train back from Silecroft.
