Start from the main cross roads in Hesket Newmarket follow the road to Howbeck, cross the Caldew at Millhouse and the route for the day heads south and east on the low ridge of high ground to the east of the Saddleback/ Skiddaw cluster of fells. After taking in the view from Eycott Hill the route heads south and east to end in Penruddock.
