Day 10 also takes in some lesser-spotted wainwrights. The less obsessed can avoid these by taking tracks and back roads between Loweswater and Cockermouth via Mosser Fell

Start from Loweswater Hotel walk back along the lake road and take the track up towards Darling Fell, follow a series of trods over Low Fell and Fellbarrow. Then drop down to the hamlet of Brandlingill before picking up paths besides the River Cocker down into Cockermouth.

Transport. For those despearate to get back to civilisation (not that Cockermouth isn’t civilised), there are regular busses from the centre of Cockermouth to the west coast mainline station at Penrith)
