Start from the main road running through Penruddock and follow the road east towards Penrith, before road joins the A66 pick up the byway and cross fields (and the A66) to Dacre. After Dalemain head south to Pooley Bridge and the foot of Ullswater, then climb over Askham Fell to

Transport. From Penrith station there are regular busses to Penruddock. There are busses between Hackthorpe and Penrith, but not very frequently.
